Learning to Say Goodbye

One of the hardest things to get used to in Youth Ministry is saying goodbye.  I think it goes for any kind of ministry, but particularly youth ministry.  It starts young and stays there.  You go to summer camp and build great new friendships - only to have to say goodbye after a week of intense togetherness.

You go on a mission trip - only to have to say goodbye to those with whom you've bonded over a love for the Lord and a love for those to whom you've been ministering.

You disciple students - only to have to say goodbye to those into whom you've poured six or more years of your life.  And you do this on a yearly basis.  It's not easy.

There are also some of those hard goodbyes along the way as family, mentors, friends, church members, and even acquaintances die, and pass from your day to day life into your see you someday life.

That's the upside.  As believers in Christ, we don't have to say goodbye.  We just say "See Ya Later!"

Isn't God good?

All the time.

Serve, disciple, pray, pour out, give your life away for Christ.  It's the only thing that matters.  Jesus said so.  Just before he said See Ya Later!
